Not the most glamorous vehicle but seemed like something different to build while I wait for the oils to cure on the Churchill.

The PE is from the Verlinden set for the Tamiya kit. The PE and resin bits are OK but not very accurate for some of the parts and the instructions are pretty vague about placement and forming. I was going to leave the side engine panels off to show off the engine, but after grinding away chunks of the radiator to fit and realizing I was going to have to do all the wiring I glued it up. Maybe I can come up with a nice cargo to make up for it.

There are a few more small detail bits to add but this should be ready for primer soon.

I glad I spent the time correcting the rear bumper plate and adding the missing bolts. You can really see the detail. Rolling Eyes Mad

    Hi there Brian,

You say it's not the most glamorous verhicle there is. I disagree. True, it's a working horse but the modelling possibilities are endless when it comes to stowage. You can put in a lot of different colors. I'll follow this one.

greetings, Richard (who has the same problem with the oilpaints with his Panzer III. I wish they could make some kind of oilpaint that cures in an hour or so...).

Love these workhorse vehicles....as said above - you can do almost anything with them!

Your latest work has a very "Earthly" theme to it as opposed to you usual Mech's...Mid-Life Crisis? Mad

HaHaHa, Yeah Rick. Time to renew the driver's license and stop building robots. Razz Naw. It's just the recent MaK releases don't do much for me and I've built everything else 9 times over. Laughing

Thanks for noticing Tobias. Normally these builds are a mix of bare plastic and primer overspray.

Richard - You're right, there are a lot of possibilities for stowage. An hour for the oils to dry? How about they dry when I want them to.

I thought I had taken photos of the truck with paint but I guess I skipped a step so here it is with paint and the start of weathering with some oil paints trying to add some variations to the otherwise monotone OD. I also airbrushed a little Tamiya Buff onto the windscreen.

Markings and instrument panel gauges and plaques are Archer Fine Transfers.

Underside is mostly pigments with some AK Engine Grime and oil paints. Still need to add the greasy bits.

The model needs to sit tight for a few days so the oil paints can set up enough that touching it won't rub the effects off the edges.

Thanks guys. It's been a difficult color to work with. Reading through many, many online topics about OD I finally chose Tamiya OD and mixed it with Dark Yellow and a little Deck Tan and White to tint. This got the base colors applied an the rest is oil paints.

Still need to work on the cab, wheels and cargo bed.

Bronco makes a couple of versions. V1, Piloted V1 and Piloted V1 Trainer. They say this ridiculous version actually existed.

Somehow building a model of a truck has evolved into aircraft modeling too. The cockpit on the real thing was pretty bare bones but Bronco didn't even provide you that much. You get a floor, seat, stick, and instrument panel. Using what photos I could find online - quite a few actually - I added some of the missing bits and downgraded the seat from a nice padded leather seat included in the kit to one that looks like it was fabricated from plywood. It doesn't look like much right now but pretty soon it won't look like much with a coat of primer.

    Tamiya 1/35 GMC 6x6 CCKW 353 V1_1

Canopy lock lever and some kind of valve jar

    Tamiya 1/35 GMC 6x6 CCKW 353 V1_4

Pilot radio I think and unknown panel.

    Tamiya 1/35 GMC 6x6 CCKW 353 V1_5

Once again all totally visible and totally worth all the work.

    Tamiya 1/35 GMC 6x6 CCKW 353 V1_2

    Tamiya 1/35 GMC 6x6 CCKW 353 V1_3

The big challenge was the thinning out the wings to add the wing ribs and dropping the aileron. Still need a little clean up.

The pilot should became deaf or crazy or both in one of this contraptions... They were LOUD from ground level, imagine banging just behind your head...

Thanks guys. Oscar - If you find yourself being the pilot of one of these things, I think the sound of the engine is the least of your worries. Neutral

Still working on this. Progress has been slow.

I've finished up the oil paints on the truck and have started work on the figures.

    Tamiya 1/35 GMC 6x6 CCKW 353 Cckw_1

The GIs are the Verlinden figures for the Tamiya kit with some head swaps with a diff. Verlinden set. I'm going to need to shave a bit off their backside to get them to seat properly. I want to use the canvas cab cover and right now they are too tall. I've also managed to chip a bit of paint in the process.

    Tamiya 1/35 GMC 6x6 CCKW 353 Cckw_2

    Tamiya 1/35 GMC 6x6 CCKW 353 Cckw_3

I've sculpted new arms for the passenger but the sleeve needs a bit of trim as it looks too long.

    Tamiya 1/35 GMC 6x6 CCKW 353 Cckw_4

The Flieseler has been sealed up and the missing details added. I do plan on having the canopy installed. The wooden frame is styrene with a base coat of Tamiya Buff.

    Tamiya 1/35 GMC 6x6 CCKW 353 Cckw_5

I'm thinking one GI riding in the back will make a nice addition.
