Post by Juan Villegas Tue Sep 24, 2013 8:59 pm

    Hello to everyone
I´m a modeller from the north of Spain, mainly an aviation modeller, but now trying to build a tank Rolling Eyes
The main goal will be to test the AK products, learn to use it and how I could use it in aviation kits. In fact I´m using them yet in a 1/48 Skyraider.

Choose the BT-7 because is a relatively small project and looking at Mig´s BT-7 I can see which should be the result Laughing Crying or Very sad
The article in Euromodelismo magazine and FAQ.2 are two complete guides for painting this kit. I just try to create a more weathered look, if possible. Will try to follow it, providing some personal touch Neutral

Now I will stop punishing you with my bad English and post some images...

Some color modulation and filters with green oil. The model was painted, stripped and painted again because I didn´t achieve a soft modulation in the first try, mainly because I could not dilute the paint correctly.
Then I read a post in this forum recommending Tamiya lacquer thinner (yellow cap) to dilute the paint. In this way works to perfecion.

Code and red star painted with home-made masks and after this a dark brown filter.

Some work with brown blue, trying to reinforce shadows, and some touches of white and light green oils for lights. Exhausts painted with sponge and rust colors from AK too.

    Wow! Shocked

    Fantastic work!
How do you "wash" the tank with Streaking grime? It's like a simple wash or do you use some particular technique?

That is a very nice job, the CM looks perfect! I like the subtile effects and then boom the chipping kicks in.

I don´t use any personal technique. First I apply a layer of acrylic satin barnish (I use Vallejo), then I mix Streaking Grime (75%) and thinner (25%) and apply it around all little details with a fine brush. Just touch the detail with the brush and the paint will run around it.
With a clean brush and thinner you can soften the effect if you want.

Thanks for your kind words guys.

Just 3 images with some streaking with Dark streaking grime. Some are retouched with Rust streaks.
I painted just a few because I didn´t want an abandoned look.

Wood block is painted with sand yellow and a decal of wood pattern from Uschi. One dry is retouched with oils adding fine detail.
The blanket is glued yet, but still don´t choose a color for it.

    Hi there Juan,

Nice!! Lively colors, excellent paintjob Very Happy ... But what I especially like is the quality of your pictures: really nice to look at. Could you please make some close up shots when you're ready with the next phase? I'd love to see this baby up close...

I believe the word you are looking for during the chipping phase is "stippling," which is when you tap the surface of the model with your brush.

I love your work, by the way. Absolutely A+
