FT-17 Takom 1/16

hi all !

new build log and new FT tank from Takom in 1/16 scale



so far i did first 4 steps ... engine assembly
no problems so far, parts fits well...





next - engine painting....oh joy......

first AK-Interactive black primer:

progress:

bit of scratch....

in original it's brass tube... just to protect spark plug wires
not included in the kit but really, really easy to make to give more reality on the engine
i also added holder of the tube and few bolts, according to the references...





and spark plug wires...
will looks better when painted in black...
made from sprue parts and wires



in total i spent 30 mins for this little improvement....
most of the time looking for the proper diameter of the plastic tube...lol
i think it worth it....
oh yes...i also made rough texture on the exhaust pipe and on the part on the top of engine
using tamiya glue and old brush

thats all for now.....now is time to paint in AK black primer

more work on the engine:

i decide to use Agama acrylics metallic colors



and some basic painting is done...



next is just basic wash with oils and coat of AK-Interactive chipping fluid on part where engine is mounted...big part of aluminum...



and layer of Agama aluminium color over ....



result :



just a tiny coat of very dilluted black acrylic wash over this....to kill the shine...

next: some pigments...etc...

still working on the engine...

AK engine grime enamel color is painted mainly on the bottom and some metallic surfaces...
i work with this color for the first time and i am really, really satisfied with the color shade...

plus two pigments - AK medium rust and black
pigment isn't ordinary carbon black, which can be found in most of packs of other manufacturers
and do not stick to the surface like glue which is case with carbon black ...
this is just "black" pigment.
easy to work with him and i use it for most of shadows in my work....
something like "postshading" but with brush and pigment...
